Why should we study English at Wall Street Institute??
I was given the opportunity to study English courses at WSI for 1 year in 2007 from CEO of WSI. After finish the course, I could sense the improvement especially, in my listening and speaking skill. Since I have slim chance to exercise my English in everyday’s life, that feeling has gone somewhere.
Recently, I obtained the scholarship mater degree in Japan at GRIPS( National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies) where I also can experience the real international environment, giving me the definition of “international English” that recalls my good old days at WSI.
When I studied in the lab, I was occasionally annoyed by various accents which represent through non – native characters, Huannita and Family or the Japanese Girl, for instants. I tried to find the reason why I have to listen some accents instead of just go with native pronunciation, British or American. Then someone told me that WSI give student the international English not just British or American and also there are teacher from not only UK, USA but also Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands. At that time the answer was reasonable enough to get me out of my curiosity but it was not touch my heart until now.
International English is in my daily life as my classmates are from countries all over the world and English is the tool for communication. Since they depart from the different location, they speak English with their tone and accent which are not something I have studied in school but rather what I gained from WSI and I realize what is the essential of learning English.
Because once UK ruled many area of the earth and once USA was the super power in many aspects, English itself is the alternative tool that people use in order to understand each other if the difference of language is the barrier. If you want to get along in international community, English is the must! and ability to comprehend English in various accents is also crucial since not all international people were born in English speaking country.
All I tried to explain is that WSI leads the students the right direction.. introduces us to the importance of international English and I feel so grateful to WSI more that ever.
Very thank you WSI, I do appreciate for what you have given to me.
